Aggressive expansion seen for SKC with opening of East Coast operation.

Los Angeles, CA – September 27th, 2005 – What does an American subsidiary do when the Japanese parent company is behind you all the way? “You get even more aggressive and you run with it,” according to Rex Bergsma, president of Shinano Kenshi Corporation’s North American subsidiary.

While SKC sees a lot of competitors consolidating and even closing offices, Bergsma is enjoying tremendous growth at SKC in every area from engineering to sales, from capacity with global operations to specific new products in growth industries. “All of this results in a tremendous increase in customer service, which is key.”

The new East Coast operation, located in the Philadelphia area, is a convenient hub to “all of our east coast business and customers. You can get everywhere with direct flights of 2 hours or less.” Bergsma wanted the East Coast office for one single-minded reason. To expand SKC’s service and support.

SKC seems to be bucking a common trend in the industry, downsizing. SKC’s growth seems directly linked to its focus on custom motor assemblies, its broad product offering, and innovations for specific industries. “We wanted to expand our localized service and support, not just for existing customers, but for our selling partners as well.

Show them the proof.

Bergsma is also interested in improving regional services—sales management, application engineering and customer service. “It’s one thing to tell your customers you want to do more, but I believe in showing them proof they can see.”

The operation, officially launched in March, will specifically mean more technical and business people who understand motors, control devices and drivers and therefore understand how to solve customer challenges, trials and headaches –in the same time zone. “In short, our customers will have answers from SKC in the time frame of each day that is user friendly to them, can expect more face-to-face visits that improve communication and mutual understanding of business or project issues.

The Philadelphia office will be managed by eastern regional sales manager Dave Rahusen, a 20-year veteran in motion control. Rahusen “has strong management skills, provides experience and knowledge in all states/territories in the eastern region, and has a solid understanding of what it takes to exceed customer expectations and grow.”

Rahusen has the support of one of SKC’s strongest applications engineers, a specialist in several industries unique to the east coast. “Getting these two guys together, in the same time zone as our customers and with expertise in several key and unique industries was a great boon for both our company and our customers.”

Focus on motors.

“Look, motors are our only business.” Shinano Kenshi Corporation specializes in: custom motor assemblies, DC brushless motors, servos and stepper motors. “Because our focus is only on motors, we can offer more motor related custom assemblies than any other motor manufacturer in the world. In fact, nearly one third of revenues are derived from our custom motor assembly sales.”

With state-of-the-art production facilities in Japan and China and with other operations in North America and Europe, maintains a strong global presence. “We have developed a reputation as an aggressive, dynamic, hard working company dedicated to customer service and delivering on our promises over and over again.”

The new East Coast office is one more promise fulfilled.

True innovator.

SKC’s ability to offer customized engineering and production even under the most difficult
challenges has earned the company the reputation as a true innovator in the motion control field.

“This is in part what distinguishes SKC - our ability to do more than the expected. This new office is a perfect example. It shows that SKC is willing to do more for its customers by providing a better solution and value to the motor development and sales process.

Prestigious awards from Fortune 500 companies speak to SKC’s engineering prowess and
manufacturing quality standards.
