Precision Stepping Motors

Stepping motors are offered by Shinano Kenshi Corporation (SKC) in a wide range of Nema sizes (14, 16, 16, 23 and 34), stepping angles (0.9°, 1.8°, 3.6°and 3.75°) and torque outputs. But more significantly, SKC currently supplies over 30% of our stepping motors as custom assemblies. This level of custom assemblies is unique in the industry.

Stepping motors application highlights:

  • Stepping motors help enable cars, SUV's and RV's to receive telecommunication signals.
  • Stepping motors are provided to the gaming industry which power slot machines, wheel spinners and card shufflers.
  • SKC precision stepping motors are used for printers that put bar codes on medical products, airline tickets, movie tickets and other kinds of receipt printed items.

Hybrid Stepping Motors

Hybrid Stepping Motors are motors that have been made as a Hybrid between two types of successful motor designs. Hybrid motors were created by combining the magnetic characteristics of Permanent Magnet Stepping Motors with the precision step angle of Variable Reluctance Stepping Motors.

Hybrid Stepping motors can be used in an extremely wide variety of Applications where strength and precision are required. Some typical applications for hybrid stepping motors are liquid handling metering pumps in laboratory, medical or semi-conductor applications. The Hybrid Stepping Motor can also drive a rack and pinion or a lead screw mechanism to achieve precise linear motion. However, the most common use for the Hybrid is driving a pulley/timing belt or gear to gear power transmission.

Brushless DC Motors
BLDC Motors

For more than 30 years, SKC has been developing solutions for Brushless DC Motors. SKC offers a wide range of brushless DC products. BLDC Motors diameters range from very small 14mm up to very large 89mm motors. These form factors are also offered in various motor heights and with both inner-rotation and outer-rotation configurations. Motor wattage also spreads across a wide range - from a 1 watt motor up to a 150 watt model.

Brushless DC Motors are developed by SKC in the figure of 2.5 million motors per month from its factory in China. The facility offers an impressive range of both mechanical and electronic solutions in custom assemblies.

FDB Motors can be placed within Brushless DC Motors

FDB Motors
Fluid Dynamic Bearing Motors

FDB Motors are built and created with a more advanced bearing and lubricating system. Fluid Dynamic Bearing Motors have a lubrication system where the fluid media is hydro dynamically swept onto and around the shaft of these motors and held in place. The lubricant rides under and around the shaft like an oil wedge.

FDB Motors have several uses. A typical application for Fluid Dynamic Bearing Motors is within Brushless DC Motors used in TV color wheels. They can also be used in projection equipment to adjust the color picture. Medical equipment applications can also benefit from the use of the Fluid Dynamic Bearing system.

Appliance Motors

Appliance Motors are those that have a specific application or usage and not a particular motor structure. Appliance motors have strengths and abilities that benefit the Appliance market. The motors used can be AC Motors, DC Motors, or Brushless DC Motors, all used within an Appliance.

Appliance Motors are used within a particular application which depends on the needs of the specific app. Appliance Motors can be small and used within a hand held device such as a mixer/stirrer/chopper. They can be variable speed such as used in a blender or mixer. They can be quiet and intelligent such as those found in HVAC applications. Appliance Motors could be wide ranging and powerful as found in Washing Machines and Dryers.

Polygon Motors

Polygon Motors are a Polygon shaped mirror system attached to the motor's shaft. Polygon motors are typically good quality, smooth running motors such as Brushless DC Motors. A mirrored Polygon rotary head is attached on the shaft of the motor for operation. The rotary head consists of between 6 and 8 mirror surfaces, called facets, which are mounted in parallel to the motor shaft. The mirrors then reflect a laser beam or other source of light on to a collector for registration or reading.

Polygon Motors can be used wherever a smooth and stable light image must be read. One natural application is for Bar Code Scanners where the laser beam is bounced off the Polygon Mirrors at the Bar Code and read. The Polygon Motor can also be used to move light within high end TV applications for proper Pixel locations. An additional application is for Laser Printers where scanning is done to the original image using the Polygon Motor.
